Dear Diva: Amelia Pontes . . .

This morning I laid awake in my bed mulling over all the things I wanted to do. You see, I'm at a place in my life right now where I'm not completely sure of who I am or where I want to be. I guess I should be happy because I am finally going back to school after getting my finances together. I've somewhat accomplished blogging and have recently met some great new people. However, sometimes a part of me still feels unfulfilled.

Then I stumbled upon your blog SoundBites through another blog, through yet another blog. I believe it has been the highlight of my day so far. You know the first thing I had to do was check out all of your style posts. I loved the simplicity and comfort of your style. You looked gorgeous, confident, and I could see the vivaciousness in your eyes. Your beauty is timeless and effortless and you zest or life shows.

After I was done perusing through your fashion posts a little section called "progress pics" caught my eye. Putting the pieces together, I went to your before/after posts to see what all off it was about. Two of your posts on your change especially touched me "Retail Lesson" and "Conspiracy Theory". As I read I began to tear up because at first I kind of saw you as someone I wish I could be.  But to see that you had come from where I am now I couldnt help but be a little emotional. To wake up one day and say you're going to lose over 100 pounds is not easy in the least bit. I've been on this journey for years and my biggest accomplishment so far isn't a 60 pound weight loss, I am bigger than I was before honestly. However I had made up my mind that I was going to love me first because if I can't love the 300+ me, how is being 170 going to be good enough. Now that the mental battle has been partially won, I have been struggling to find out what is holding me back from my physical goals so reading both of those posts really made me think about those things.

I just wanted you to know how big of an inspiration you are to me, and I know many others. I will definitely continue to follow your blog through all the great success that is to come for you.

♥ Courtney

"A pound loss never equates with a pound gained in contentment. . . I have yet to draw single tear to my eyes because of a pound lost or for a pound gained and I refuse to waist a precious tear on something that I refuse to allow to define me. We're facing a water drought you know, we have to start conserving our resources for the things we really need. My happiness is more than just a necessity, it's really all I have to hold onto in this world."

Eliza Parker LookBook featuring Fluvia Lacerda

This morning while checking me email I noticed a new follower to my twitter, Eliza Parker. Up until now I had not heard of them so I decided to go take a look at their new site. First off, I knew if Fluvia was in it, then it was going to be good. There is no denying that she is a complete bombshell. She looked completely stunning in the Eliza Parker lookbook. Flawless skin, and those long, soft, wavy tresses *swoon*. Everything from the scenery to the styling was perfect.

Now I do not want to take any shine from the actual collection. All of her garments looked so comfortable and well made. The quality of the clothing was definitely apparent even through the photos. I know that any woman would feel beautiful and feminine in these garments. Each piece is easily a staple to any womans wardrobe and can be transformed into a multitude of styles. My favorite looks are the Greenwich dress and the Santorini dress (1st and 2nd in the photo gallery). Both are classics that can be worn for seasons to come. If properly cared for they could easily become that timeless piece in your wardrobe.

Their website is beautifully designed and organized. You can also shop by your body shape and find what will flatter you. If you're looking for something chic and elegant for day or night than Eliza Parker is definitely the way to go.

New Torrid Collection: Military Chic

Military Chic is another collection recently premiered at Torrid. The style is more nautical rather than focusing on the traditional camouflage and army inspirations. Honestly there wasn't one piece that literally made me go "wow". However, I do like that they are all very versatile and comfortable for every day wear. I especially love the stripes which mix beautifully with the soft color palette. (Who said curvy girls shouldn't wear horizontal stripes) Overall this collection offers classic yet trendy pieces to be worn throughout any season.

Tea Time . . .

I'll be attending a tea part next week and have no freaking idea what to wear. I put together this look from a dress I found on Torrid but I doubt I'll be wearing it. I only have one week to find an outfit so I really dont have the time to order anything from the internets. I guess I'll have to just ride around tomorrow and see what I can find. Below is the look I put together. I may be buying the shoes though. I found them on Piperlime. It is a great website or shoes.

Workin It: Amber Riley

*Le sigh* This week marked the end of another drama filled season of my favorite show Glee. I am elated that the show will be back for another season. This season we definitely had the chance to connect with other characters besides Rachel Barry. It was actually refreshing to see an episode or two that she actually didn't sing in. It's not that I dont love her character but she really does sound like she should be on a Disney soundtrack so sometimes it can be a little much. In the mean time Glee will be showing it's first season for the rest of the summer. So if you haven't seen it I highly encourage you to tune in

One of my favorite characters on the show is Mercedes played by the beautiful Amber Riley. She is fierce and talented and for once it is great to see plus size girls being portrayed as more than just the self-loathing loner. However she isn't just rockin it on screen, Ms. Riley definitely has some flavor of her own. I can not wait to see what the future holds for this star.
